Bilkent-UNAMBG Team
The Bilkent-UNAMBG iGEM team, consisting of undergraduate students from the Molecular Biology and Genetics department, aims to use tools of synthetic biology to solve specific world problems. The team was founded in 2016 under the supervision of Associate Professor Urartu Ozgur Safak Seker, who currently leads a research team at UNAM, National Nanotechnology Research Center. The team has previously received silver medals in 2016 and 2018, a bronze medal in 2017, and a gold medal in 2019 in the most prestigious synthetic biology competition of the world, iGEM (International Genetically Engineered Machine). The team won’t be attending the competition in 2020 but aims to develop a project that can benefit the people around the world next year and show how science can impact their way of living. Additionally, the team is motivated to win the gold medal and best project awards.
